Description:

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

InterAction seeks a Senior Public Policy Associate to work on a variety of international development and humanitarian policy issues, with a strong focus on reforming and modernizing the architecture of U.S. foreign assistance. The Senior Public Policy Associate will engage in direct outreach to congressional staff, meet with Executive branch officials from the State Department, USAID, and the White House, and work closely with InterAction's member NGOs to turn their field-based humanitarian and development expertise into concrete proposals for strengthening U.S. foreign assistance programs. S/he will also contribute to the fast-paced work of the Public Policy Unit by providing executive-level support to the Senior Director of Public Policy. This will include managing high-level relationships with donors and other stakeholders, responding to urgent requests for information from congressional staff or Obama administration officials, writing and contributing to policy-related external communications, and other tasks as needed.

The Senior Public Policy Associate will manage InterAction's Task Force on Foreign Assistance Reform and will provide staff support to a similar CEO-level working group comprised of the executives of InterAction member CEOs. S/he will also represent InterAction at staff-level meetings of the Modernizing Foreign Assistance Network, a coalition comprised of international development and foreign policy practitioners, policy advocates and experts, concerned citizens and private sector organizations.

The Senior Public Policy Associate will report to the Senior Director of Public Policy and work closely with the Senior Director and InterAction's CEO on special projects.
