Job Title: Program Manager

 

Location: Washington D.C.

 

Position Description: The Global Fairness Initiative (GFI), an International non-profit based in Washington DC is currently recruiting for the position of Program Manager for the Washington D.C. office.  Designed as a small NGO with a broad impact at the local and international level, the Global Fairness Initiative was founded on the premise that economic globalization must work to improve the lives of poor and marginalized populations around the world by creating economic access and job opportunities. GFI works in Africa, SE Asia and Central America on programs that support economic development and sustainability for the working poor and primarily agricultural producers and apparel and footwear workers, but with a regular focus on working women.

 

Objectives:

The Program Manager reports directly to the Executive director and supports the design, development and implementation of GFI's global programs. Specific responsibilities include aligning projects around a strategic mission or vision, ensuring timely completion of project deliverables, completing reporting requirements, and writing proposals and budgets for new initiatives. The Program Manager often serves as a liaison to members of U.S. and foreign governments as well as international companies. Additional responsibilities will include developing communications materials, assisting with grant writing, fundraising and other business development, and managing staff and interns.

 

GFI is looking to fill this position immediately.

 

Skills/Experience

  • Bachelors Degree (Masters Degree preferred) in a related field
  • Professional experience in international development,  program design, management and implementation
  • Experience working in developing countries and multi-cultural environments highly desirable
  • Strong communications, writing and editing skills, particularly related to grant writing and program design
  • Familiarity with development funding mechanisms, integrated development strategies & international policy
  • Ability to identify creative and practical approaches to overcome challenges, highly valued
  • Willingness to travel
  • Fluency in Spanish highly desired, proficiency required
