Description:

Citizens for Global Solutions (CGS) is seeking to appoint an Edward Rawson Government Relations Fellow to work out of its headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Citizens for Global Solutions embraces a vision of a world in which nations work together to abolish war, protect our rights and freedoms, and solve the problems facing humanity that no nation alone can solve. To this end, Citizens for Global Solutions educates Americans about our global interdependence, communicates global concerns to elected officials, and develops proposals to strengthen and reform international institutions.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a bachelor's degree in political science, international relations, or a related social sciences degree; Masters degree is preferred. We are seeking candidates who possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to work efficiently and collaboratively under deadline. Experience working for Congress and/or an advocacy-based non-profit organization as staff or intern is highly sought after.

Description:
The Rawson Government Relations Fellow will work with senior management in executing political and government relations strategies for the organization. The Rawson fellow will be someone who is interested in learning about framing multi-lateral policy issues, promoting legislative positions, and developing support for policy initiatives in Washington. We expect that the Rawson Government Relations Fellow will immediately work on maintaining relationships with Congressional members and staff, coordinating our on-going information programs, coordinating our legislative activities with other nonprofit organizations and other actors, and promoting our policy positions on our website and in social networking environments. The Rawson Government Relations Fellow will support the organization's Political Action Committee, conduct legislative research for the Global Solutions Congressional Report Card, and also support our work with collaborative groups, such as the Washington Working Group on the International Criminal Court and the Partnership for Effective Peacekeeping.
Compensation and Tenure:

The Edward Rawson Fellowship Program was established in honor of Edward Rawson, one of our founding members and one of our most consistent and dedicated supporters. The appointment is from a minimum of six (6) months to a year, beginning early January 2009. The successful Fellow will receive a stipend of $2,083 per month.

To apply:
