The Connect U.S. Fund is seeking a full-time administrative assistant to support our activities building a community of organizations working for more responsible U.S. global engagement.

Major duties

  • Assist with program development activities, including research on issues relating to foreign policy and international affairs and tracking relevant policy developments.
  • Manage Executive Director’s calendar by scheduling meetings, conference calls, other appointments, and travel as required.
  • Manage information flow in and out of the office by processing mail, e-mail and other correspondence, and screening and responding promptly to telephone calls.
  • Prepare expense reimbursement reports for staff, monthly credit card reconciliations, and annual budgets, and assist with administrative tasks including copying, faxing, mass mailings, filing, data entry, ordering supplies, and proofreading.
  • Arrange logistics for conferences, meetings and other events for nonprofits on substantive policy issues, collaboration and training.
  • Maintain the Connect U.S. Fund website and draft newsletter.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

  • Conviction that the United States must effectively address critical global issues, such as climate change, nuclear proliferation, human rights and instability in regions confronting poverty and state failure; that progress requires that the United States work closely with friends, allies and other major stakeholders in the international community; and that the United States will only be successful in achieving critical foreign policy objectives if it exercises power and influence in a manner that is widely perceived as legitimate, demonstrates foresight and responsibility to future generations and emphasizes international cooperation.
  • Background in international relations, political science or related field.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Very strong attention to detail and organizational skills absolutely necessary.
  • Work experience in an office environment.  Non-profit advocacy or related experience preferred.
  • Experience managing a website desired; comfort with internet technology required.
  • Experience working with numbers and familiarity with spreadsheets and databases.
  • Can-do, problem solving attitude and interest in working on a small team.

Salary range is in the high twenties to low thirties, depending on experience.  Competitive health, vacation and other benefits.  The Connect U.S. Fund is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
