The Better World Campaign, who works to strengthen the relationship between the United States and the United Nations, commissioned John W. Sewell, Senior Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, to write this report as part of a series of papers developed for the 2008 Presidential campaign and the new Administration. The report recommends that the new president concentrate on certain key areas, which include:

• Investing in Open Political and Economic Systems
• Promoting Education for All
• Improving Health Systems and Disease Prevention, and;
• Opening Space in the Global Marketplace for Poor Countries and Poor People.
