Francesco Femia serves as Program Officer at the Connect U.S. Fund, where he manages all of the Fund's grant-making programs and provides analysis and advice on the intersection between climate and development policy international (in particular, international climate finance), civil-military issues, and multilateral treaty processes. He holds a Masters Degree in European Politics and Governance from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). At LSE, his area of research was EU external relations, concluding with a field study on the impact of EU accession on Cyprus's stalemated conflict. He has also focused on Transatlantic relations, European security, EU foreign and defense policies, conventional weapons issues, post-conflict studies, and comparative federalism. Francesco has several years experience working in the environmental NGO community, in advocacy and fundraising capacities for the Fund for Public Interest Research (aka PIRG), where he served as both an Assistant Director for Citizen Outreach in the organization's national office, and Assistant National Director for Seasonal Recruitment. At PIRG, he was an integral part of both statewide and national efforts to reduce vehicular emissions. He has also worked on air quality monitoring issues in Italy, as a field volunteer for the Global Community Monitor, and was a contributor to “Stirred Up,” a publication devoted to pan-European issues of politics, policy and culture. He speaks fluent Italian, intermediate Spanish, and has a working knowledge of French.
